The other day, in an attempt to add some nutrients into my kids diets, I pureed some stuff.
Not to feed it to them like baby food mush. But to add it to real food.

They are pretty picky eaters. Well, one of them is, that's for sure.
I've had Jessica Seinfelds Deceptively Delicious cookbook for some time now.
And after reading through it's pages and feeling super sneaky, I finally decided to try it.
Pureed beets make the most beautiful color:
And the smell reminded me of my grandma Hunter. She didn't smell like beets, she bottled them. And served them.
Here, they still seems like a good idea:
The final product, Pink Pancakes, made with 1/4 cup beet puree, ehhh, not so much.
Although, Colin, bless his little heart, scarfed up two of them.
And I made Sadi eat all of hers.
Then I tasted one for myself.
Not totally disgusting. You could just really taste the beet.
Go figure.

I've always wanted that cookbook! Put some pumpkin in your pancakes- divine! I haven't tried beets... and probably now will never try them. I've also heard steamed cauliflower in mashed potatoes is good. Way to experiment! Love you!
